Design Requirements and Objectives

Provide an efficient power plant appropriate for this aircraft, including engine, prop, and related systems, such as the fuel systems. Also provide power for use in flight controls and payload.

Current Status

Engine testing continues on Kavan FK-50 with various propellers, throttle settings. Steve is looking into improved carburators and engine-mounted generators.

Engines:

• Two Kavan FK-50
• Weight (ea): 6 lbs
• Max. Power: 3.6 hp
• sfc: < 6 lb/hp/hr

Propellers:

Zinger 20 x 10

DC generators:

Astro-15 cobalt motors used as generators. Max. power = xxx watts at xxx rpm.

Fuel System:

Currently in early development. It would be nice to provide fuel to the engine without pumps.
